Houston Underage DWI Lawyer

What are the consequences for underage DWI?

Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is a serious offense, and no exception is given to drivers under the age of 21. For those underage drivers who do make the decision to get behind the wheel when they have had too much to drink, the consequences can have devastating, long-term results that are not always easy to recover from. It is critical to have the support of a Houston DWI lawyer who not only understands the severity of your charges, but also who knows how to build a case that will provide you with the best chance at a favorable outcome.

While the legal blood alcohol content for drivers over the age of 21 is .08, drivers under the age of 21 are not permitted to have any measurable amount of alcohol in their system while operating a motor vehicle. If an underage driver is caught with any measurable amount of alcohol in their system, they may receive a 60-day license suspension, up to $500 in fines, 20 to 40 hours of mandatory community service and required attendance of alcohol-awareness classes that focus on preventing subsequent offenses. Underage drivers who have a BAC of .08 or higher can expect to face the same charges as legal drinkers who are convicted of DWI.
