Houston DWI Attorney: SCRAM Bracelets

Why am I required to wear a SCRAM bracelet?

A Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor (SCRAM) bracelet is a device which is worn around the ankle and is designed to monitor and track a person's blood alcohol concentration via their skin. The device is set to measure the person's BAC every hour and store it for review. Although judges and courts will often order a person, convicted of a DWI or multiple DWI s, to wear a SCRAM bracelet as a condition of their probation, there is much concern about the accuracy of this method.

The technique used to calculate BAC from a person's perspiration is actually quite involved and there are multiple variables which can affect the outcome. For this reason many doctors and DWI attorneys will argue the validity of such devices. If you or a loved one has been ordered to wear a SCRAM bracelet after being arrested for a DWI, you need to contact a Houston DWI lawyer at my firm right away. My firm will be able to review your case, determine why you were ordered to wear the bracelet, and work aggressively to defend your rights and freedoms.

DWI Lawyer in the Houston Area

Having been a DWI lawyer for more than 15 years, I am intimately familiar with the laws surrounding DWIs. I understand how and why a judge would suspend someone's license, order individuals to install ignition interlock devices or wear SCRAM bracelets, and more. I also know that if I were in such a position, I would want my lawyer using all possible resources to protect my interests and fight for my rights. My philosophy with every case I handle, is to treat it as if it were my own. Leave no stone unturned and exhaust all resources.

I have a dedicated staff and we are all committed to delivering the high level of excellence our clients have come to expect. In recognition of our work, my firm has been awarded with an AV-rating from Martindale-Hubbell. I am a regular legal commentator for media outlets such as ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC, and am commonly called upon to give legal commentary on DWI-related stories. My articles have appeared in various legal magazines and I have been quoted in The Houston Chronicle, The Galveston Daily News and the Wall Street Journal.

Contact a Houston DWI Attorney at The Samuelson Law Firm if you have questions about SCRAM bracelets, have been ordered to wear a SCRAM bracelet or are facing any type of DWI charges. My firm is here to help you.
